Amanda graduated from The Academy of Cosmetology in Halifax in 2009 with her Esthetic Diploma. After working several years at the Inverary Resort & Spa, we were thrilled to have her join The Summit team in early 2014. In 2016 Amanda, through her dedication and keen interest in learning became the head of training for The Summit.
She currently holds her Master Esthetic License with the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia.
Amanda has completed 3 advanced makeup courses in mineral makeup applications including two with our much loved Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup. Besides her love for makeup Amanda has developed a passion for great foot care. She successfully completed her advanced foot care course with the North American School of Podology in early April 2014 to become a Certified Master Pedicurist! In the spring of 2014 she successfully completed an advanced Brazilian Waxing course plus advanced training with both GM Collin and Yonka.
In the fall of 2014 Amanda became a Clinical Esthetician after successfully completing a 6 month Clinical Esthetics Course. This allows her to work successfully with more complicated skin care issues (acne, rosacea, hyperpigmentation, etc) as well has a higher level of results based treatments for aging related isssues. She also completed an advanced Anti-Aging Course with GM Collin and level 2 advanced training with Yonka Paris. In 2015 she completed advanced training with Zohra Bendouah of Skinceuticals, makeup training with Ruben Potrebenko, makeup artist with Jane Iredale, Anti Aging, Acne and Menopausal Skin Care workshops with GM Collin, advanced treatment training with Yonka. She also completed advanced training with Blinc Cosmetics specializing in eye makeup. Amanda's passion for learning, her strong practical skills and knowledge made her a perfect fit for assisting in staff training which she began in June 2015. She was also the lead on the development of our new Signature Body Bliss treatment that she designed, developed, trained and launched in the late fall of 2015. This lead Amanda to her role in early 2016 as the Head of Training. Amanda held this role for two years before changing roles and becoming more involved in event coordination.
2016 was a stellar year for Amanda! From her new role as Head of Training; travel to Las Vegas to the International Esthetic & Spa Conference for three days packed with training plus, adding Instagram to her repertoire (did we mention she is also head of our Social Media?) plus a training course with Seaflora - it was an action packed year!
For 2017 Amanda travelled to Sooke, BC to visit and learn more about seaweed skin care at Canada's finest organic seaweed skin care center. She has successfully completed training certification for our now popular Lash Lifting service. In 2018 she took an advanced training course for lash and brow tinting with Refectocil to be able to be able to create a broader range of colour correction for brows especially greying brows. 2018 ended with a very exciting trip to Paris, France to experience what it is like to have skin care in Paris and visit, tour and learn at Yonka!
Amanda has spent early 2019 successfully completing Bend Beauty's advanced certification training. She is currently studying the life of Sebastian Kneipp and all things Kneipp. Next up for 2019 is a trip to Toronto in April to attend the ESI Esthetic Conference as well as a training course with Phytomer and visit to Kaia Natural. Amanda hopes to successfully complete a training course in Indian Head Massage by the end of the year and develop some very interesting new treatments. We have no doubt she will!
