Understanding our Signature Body Bliss Treatment

Our Signature Body Bliss Treatment combines the use of colour, energy and aromatherapy in a light pressured, rhythmic relaxing style of massage. Each treatment is customized depending on how you are feeling on the day of your service. To understand more we share with you some basic information on the nature of the therapies we incorporate.

Energy

According to an ancient Indian philosophy, there are 7 points of energy throughout the body. These points are called ‘Chakras’. The word “chakra” is Sanskrit for “wheel” which conveys the way the energy in the Chakras is constantly moving and vibrating. It is said that each Chakra is connected to a different part of our experience as human beings.

Each Chakra is associated with a particular element, colour, sound, shape & vibrational wavelength. There are different essential oils that work to energize, calm or balance each Chakra.

The Chakras can become unbalanced or blocked. When they become blocked it can manifest in many different physical and emotional ways (i.e. physical pain/discomfort, negative emotions, etc.). Surrounding ourselves with the associated colours and aromas can help to bring the Chakras back into balance and relieve our discomfort.

The Chakras & their associations are as follows:

Root Chakra – Represents our foundation and feeling of being grounded. Located at the base of the spine and associated with the colour Red and the circulatory system. The focus is survival issues such as, instinct, food, financial independence & security.

Sacral Chakra – Represents our connection and ability to accept others and new experiences. It is located just below the naval and associated with the colour Orange and the digestive system. The focus is creative impulses, well-being, pleasure & sexuality.

Solar Plexus Chakra – Represents our ability to be confident and in control of our lives. Located at waist level and associated with the colour Yellow and the nervous system. The focus is self-worth, self-confidence & self-esteem.

Heart Chakra – Represents our ability to love. Located at heart level and associated with the colour Green and the reproductive system. This Chakra is thought to be the link between the 3 lower Chakras (the Physical) and the 3 uppers Chakras (the spiritual). The focus being universal love, inner peace, joy & compassion

Throat Chakra – Represents our ability to communicate. Located at the base of the throat and associated with the colour Blue and the respiratory system. The focus is communication, truth and self-expression.

Brow or ‘Third Eye’ Chakra – Represents our ability to focus on and see the big picture. Located between the brows and associated with the colour Indigo and the mind (intellect & understanding). The focus is intuition, imagination, ability to think and make decisions.

Crown Chakra – Represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. Located at the crown of the head and associated with the colour Violet and the spiritual world. The focus is connection, spirituality, knowledge & unity.

 Colour

Sir Isaac Newton divided the light spectrum into seven colours. Light consists of waves and each colour operates at a difference wavelength. These wavelengths all vibrate at different frequencies and produce different physical and emotional effects on the body.

Each colour has particular properties relating to physical, emotional, mental & spiritual states of being. They can be stimulating or depressing, constructive or destructive, attractive or repellant.

In colour therapy there are 7 focus colours that are used, and each of these 7 colours is associated with one of the 7 Chakras. Colours that we are drawn to in clothing, decoration, food, etc. often tell you about imbalances within the Chakras associated with that colour. Without even knowing, we are often using Colour Therapy in our day to day lives.

The colours and their descriptions are as follows:

RED – Associated with the Root Chakra. It appears as the densest colour of the spectrum and has the lowest vibrational frequency. It is the colour associated with earthly matter, blood and passion. It is very stimulating because even though the molecules vibrate slowly, they are densely packed and create a lot of friction. This is why red catches our attention so quickly and why it’s often used in advertising. Too much can be over-stimulating, so use sparingly.

ORANGE – Associated with the Sacral Chakra. A balance between Red & Yellow, Orange is a warm, stimulating colour but not as stimulating as red. It is the colour associated with creativity. It is good to promote appetite and influence creativity. It is often used in fast food advertising to encourage bigger meal purchases.

YELLOW - Associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra. Yellow is the colour of joy, light, laughter and positivity. It is the colour associated with positive feelings of self. Like Red, too much Yellow can be over stimulating and can lead to restlessness.

GREEN – Associated with the Heart Chakra. Green is the colour associated with balance, harmony & sympathy. It is the colour of the Earth and helps us to feel connected to nature. Falling in the middle of the spectrum, the key factor with Green is balance.

BLUE – Associated with the Throat Chakra. It is the colour associated with self-expression and honest communication. It helps us to better express ourselves. Stemming from its ability to promote truthful communication, you’ll often see Blue in governmental & places of law enforcement.

INDIGO – Associated with the Brow Chakra. Indigo is the colour of intuition, imagination and wisdom. It helps with the ability to think for ourselves and make our own decisions. Indigo is best used in smaller doses as over stimulation can cause feelings of depression.

VIOLET – Associated with the Crown Chakra. Violet has the highest vibrational frequency and is stimulating to the nervous system. It is the colour of spirituality, unity & knowledge. During prayer, reflection or meditation Violet can help us achieve our state of Divine Connectivity with more clarity and with less effort.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the therapeutic use of plant-derived, aromatic essential oils to promote physical and psychological well-being

Essential oils are a concentrated liquid containing volatile aroma compounds from plants which are most often distilled by steam. In short, they are the ‘essence’ of the plant. They are distilled from various parts of the plant including but not limited to the leaves, flowers, barks, roots, fruits, seeds, grasses and resins. They are produced in practically every country in the world & come from very specific species of plant groups. For example, there are over 300 varieties of tea tree, but only a few of them produce oils with medicinal properties.

Essential oils can be used singularly or in a blend of many oils. Blends having a top, middle and a base scent and can provide many actions at once. Like the colours, the oils can be energizing or relaxing, calming, stimulating, etc. and many oils have different actions depending on the amounts used.

The easiest way to introduce essential oils into our systems is through inhalation and absorption. It takes about 22 seconds for the effects of the oil to hit the brain when inhaled, and about 15-20 minutes for the effect when applied topically (ALWAYS with a carrier oil, essential oils should NEVER be applied directly to the skin as a rule).

As with the Chakras and the colours, the aroma of the oil, vibrates at a certain frequency and presents us with the ability to assist with an almost infinite variety of physical and emotional ailments.

In summary, each of the 7 Chakras correspond to a colour AND essential oil (potentially many different oils). The Chakra, colour & aroma all vibrate at the same frequency and help to release or limit the movement & amount of energy throughout the body resulting in a more relaxed, balanced & centered state of being.

Each time you have a Signature Body Bliss Treatment at The Summit the colour you are drawn to may be very different as your body, mind and spirit may require something else for balance.

We recommend treatments once a month as a basic recommendation in order to help to maintain balance in the body. If you are experiencing an unusually high amount of stress, either physically or emotionally, then it would be best advised to come even once a week.
