Acne vulgaris (or simply acne) is a common skin condition characterized by patches of scaly red skin, blackheads and whiteheads, cysts, pimples, and in some cases scarring. Whether just a few breakouts or many, acne can tragically affect self confidence.
In adolescence and during puberty, acne is usually caused by an increase in hormones such as testosterone for both young boys and girls.
Acne often affects the upper part of the chest, and the back.
Often the more frustrating form of acne is adult acne which typically affects more women than men. This can be triggered also by hormonal shifts (triggered by weight lifting regimes, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, birth control, menopause) as well as stress, poor nutrition, skin care/cosmetic sensitivities and lifestyle habits.
Determining what those triggers are and creating an effective strategy for each individual has been the key to the successful outcomes at The Summit.
We recommend our Clinical Skin Care Consultation as a first step in assisting in resolving these often frustrating skin concerns.
